Hide the Vodka...

I'm not drinking. At least not until Valentines Day. Not because I hate that day, which I usually do, but because that will mark one month, alcohol free. The past 3 months have been a flurry of back from Australia reunions, Birthdays, Christmas Parties, New Years, and of course an all inclusive vacation. I've drank a lot and it's detox time for me.
In response to my new challenge, I've decided to end my "No Coffee Except Tuesdays" routine. Caffeine junkie still beats alcoholic.
On a side note, I actually may have some Valentines Day plans that would beat anthing my coupleish friends are doing. Single people can have fun too!

My Bucket List (Travel Version)...

  • Greece - I've dreamt of going here since I was 11.
  • Peru - I'm going to climb Manchu Picu!!
  • Japan - Because an hour at the airport wasn't enough.
  • The Maldives - A tiny group of islands between Africa and Asia... I want to have my Honeymoon there.
  • New York - I have been here before, but now that I'm an adult I'm sure I'd see things differently.
  • Africa and/or Nepal- Volunteer in an ophanage... for once a non-selfish trip.
  • Switzerland - 2 words... Lindt Chocolate.
  • Melbourne - It broke my heart to miss out on seeing the artsy-culture Aussie city.
  • Italy - Pasta, gelati, pizza, pasta, gelati.
  • Dubai - Do you even need to ask why.
  • Dead Sea, Israel - Because you CAN'T sink.
  • Tahiti - I have a thing for tropical paradise like places.

And of course, every other imaginable destination. There is no place that I don't want to see, but these are the top of my list, and I can and will see them ALL!

Live for Now...

The past few weeks I've been contemplating what to do with my life.
I'm 22, I've moved back in with my mom, I'm working a temporary job, and I have a fair amount of debt to pay off... it's enough to cause a bit of stress.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm cut out for this whole "real world".
There are so many options, so many goals I want to reach, and some of them conflict. I can't have it all, but how do I decide what path to follow? How do I know that 5 years from now I won't regret the decisions I make today?
I don't know. I can't know. I won't know.
Planning things out is so opposite of who I am. I want to be the spontaneous, fun loving, "everything will work out in the end" attitude girl that I used to be. That's how it was while I was in Australia, but coming home to the routine 8-5 job has got me back into the mindset that everything needs to be planned out. I hate thinking that way, it doesn't suit me.
So I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to wait and see where my life takes me and I know that there are big things to come in the near future, whether it's a new career, more traveling, or whatever comes my way, I'm ready and waiting to face it.
The best moments in life are the ones that you least expect.

Back to the Snow...

I got home about 20 minutes ago.
Mexico was incredible. We spent our days lying on the beach, soaking up the sun (not much of a tan though, I lathered on the SPF 30) and lived the dream, if only for a week.
Our nights were spents drinking pina coladas and dancing to Mexican music.
I could have stayed a lot longer, but I guess it's time to get back home and into the routine.
I should go to bed, seeing as how I work in the morning, but I'm too distracted by uploading pictures and all of that fun stuff... sleep is overrated anyways.
Every time I come home I find myself full of new ambitions and ready to chase my dreams. Next week I'm headed to Vancouver in an attempt to do just that... wish me luck.

2009 So Far...

Last night was my mom's 40th birthday party. What a drunken mess.
She had a great time though, which is all that matters. We are headed to Wendy's right now, for burgers. My mom rarely drinks, nor does she eat burgers, ever. I know a hangover when I see one.
4 days in, and it's been a decent year so far, with the exception of being sick. New Years Eve was great. I must admit, you can't beat Sydney when it comes to New Years celebrations, but being surrounded by my best friends is definately a very close runner up.
I work tomorrow (which will drag by as we have sooo much catching up to do), go to karaoke, and then leave for the airport right after. I suppose I should pack today. But when have I ever packed ahead of time?
So I started my Project 365 photo thing... I've got to be honest, it's not easy finding things to take pictures of in my house, in the cold winter. And I'm only on day 4! It's fun though, and I look forward to seeing what my friends put up every day. You probably should do one too!
